Nautanki is the North Indian synonym for folk theater or operatic drama that was the most popular form of entertainment before cinema. Even though the theatre has lost its popularity, the word remains a catch among people and is frequently used to describe an actor.

Event Name: Skit

About:
   A skit is a short literary piece of a humorous or satirical character which is meant to make you Roll-On-The-Floor-Laughing. The audience attending a skit is always supposed to leave with a smile in his face and wise thoughts in his mind. A skit is the most powerful form of drama.

Format:
A single person can try out mono-acting under this category but trying it in a group of 2 or more makes skits more affective.

Rules:

      • 2 Teams per College (1 theme based + 1 general category)
      • Theme (theme based round) :
      • Max 20 Participants per Team
      • Time for each Team is limited to 10 + 3 mins for stage setting and clearing the stage. Violating Time limit will result in elimination.
      • The teams need to clean up any mess or trash, etc. that you may use or make during your skit and all teams need to have representation backstage to clean the stage after the team’s program
      • Microphones will be provided.
      • Any form of obscenity will result in debarring the team from Participation.

Event Name: Street Play (Boys & Girls)

About:
   There isn’t much difference between a skit and a street play. Street play is a serious form of drama that focuses on the various social issues degrading the society. Street Play has more dramatization, use of props and out-of-the-box methods to convey their message. BE LOUD!
It should be a group act, focusing on the present social scenarios.

Format:
It should be a group act, focusing on the present social scenarios.

Rules:

      • 1 Team Per college
      • Maximum Participant 30 per Team
      • No Mics, No Speakers or any other form of Play back
      • Max 15 mins
      • Any form of Vulgarity is not Allowed
      • Properties are allowed

Theme: SOCIAL ISSUES ( choose any one of the current social issue) (Please register your Social Issue choice with your staff co coordinator, we request the staff coordinators to mail your college’s choice to our astra mail id)


Event Name: Mime

About:
   Whenever the word mime comes up, people picture a white—washed face with a sad expression pushing imaginary walls around. But Mime has more than what it looks like, it is the art of expression with bodily movements. It is the purest form of acting, unadulterated by words and where action speaks the loudest.

Format:
Group act where words are forbidden and actions are encouraged.

Rules:

      • 2 Team per College
      • Max 15 Participants per Team
      • Time for each Team is limited to 10 + 3 mins for stage setting and clearing the stage. Violating Time limit will result in elimination.
      • The teams need to clean up any mess or trash, etc. that you may use or make during your skit and all teams need to have representation backstage to clean the stage after the team’s program
      • Any form of obscenity will result in debarring the team from Participation.

Event Name: Mimicry

About:
   This is the only form of copying that doesn’t result in punishment and is appreciated by everyone. Mimicry need not be limited just to vocal variation, instead it can also be made a treat to watch by dressing up like the person to be mimicked.

Rules:

    • 3 Participants Per college
    • Time limit : 2-3 mins
    • Any form of Vulgarity is not Allowed

Event Name: Fashion Show (Boys & Girls)

Rules:

    • 2 Team per College ( 1 Boys Team/1 Girls Team)
    • Max 10 Participants per Team
    • Time for each Team is limited to 6 + 2 mins for stage setting and clearing the stage. Violating Time limit will result in elimination.
    • The teams need to clean up any mess or trash, etc. that you may use or make and all teams need to have representation backstage to clean the stage after the team’s program
    • Any form of obscenity will result in debarring the team from Participation.
    • Please register your theme of your choice with your staff co coordinator, we request the staff coordinators to mail your college’s choice to our astra mail id.
