ICTACT Youth Present and Youth Talk are the student contests initiated by ICTACT devoted to bring out inspiring ideas from college students in the form of highly effective and inspiring Talks and Presentations. The nationwide hunt for ICTACT Youth Icons 2016 received more than 25,000 nominations from 521 Universities and colleges overall.
Over 25,000 nominations, six nominees were selected for the finals from six regions which include Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Salem, Trichy and Tirunelveli. Notably, M. Vignesh Kumar of Paavai Engineering College was selected as the winner of ICTACT Youth Present 2016 of Regional Final – Salem, held at Mahendra Engineering College on August 19, 2016 and got selected for the finals.
The Grand Finale of the contest was conducted as part of ICTACT Youth Leadership Summit 2016 held on 24th August 2016 at Codissia Hall, Coimbatore. About 3,500 students from 350 colleges took part in the Youth Leadership Summit 2016. Madhan Karky, Lyricist, was the guest of Honour for the function. Speaking at the inaugural, D.R. Kaarthikeyan, former Director of Central Bureau of Investigation, urged students to be good human beings to be good leaders. The youth should take responsibility of contributing to the growth of this nation. According to Krishnaraj Vanavarayar, Chairman of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, every individual should empower themselves to empower the country. Lakshmi Narayanan, Vice-Chairman of Cognizant, said youth should contribute more towards developing newer technologies and highlighted the importance of digital literacy. M. Sivakumar, Chief Executive Officer of the ICT Academy, said each student should believe in being the change.
After a 10 minute presentation by each of the six finalists, two students were selected as ICTACT Youth Icons 2016. M. Vignesh Kumar of Paavai Engineering College, Namakkal, was selected as the Youth Icon for Youth Present 2016. He gave an outstanding and inspiring presentation on the topic “Goals are good for you”. His ability to present the topic in such an interesting way produced one of the most memorable speeches ever. His subject “Goals are good for you” intrigued everyone. Judging from the comments of those who attended, the presentation was very successful.
Education Tours are very important for the overall development of a student. It gives them an opportunity to learn from their own experiences and from the experience of others. The winners and runners of the ICTACT Youth Icon 2016 are announced a free educational trip to Singapore.
Speaking after the victory, M. Vignesh Kumar said “At this moment, I want to express my deepest gratitude for the purpose that The Chairman and the staff members of Paavai Institutions have been supporting me since long. Also my sincere thanks to my supportive Family members and Friends who have always been a source of encouragement.” Also he added, youth who wish to challenge the future world by pushing their abilities to next level and to improve themselves personally and professionally should come forward and take part in this kind of contest.
