Excellence is an art and won by continuous training and habituation. The students are the pearls of Paavai, therefore it is indeed necessary to mould, and shape and fine tune them with respect to their attitude and to develop their study habits. The cognitive domain, affective domain and psychomotor domain of the students were properly trained to make them understand the importance of college studies and career. An Induction programme was conducted for the first year engineering students of Paavai Engineering college, Paavai College of Engineering and Paavai College of Technology from 29.08.17 to 14.09.17 in 12 batches concurrently at Smart hall, Pragathi hall, Tata hall and Brilliant hall.

KasthuriBai, Dean, Faculty Development Department, Dr. K.Selvi, Dean Academics, Dr.S.Sukumar, Dean Civil, Dr.A.S.Kandasamy, Dean ECE, PEC, Dr.B.Murali Babu, CoE, PEC, Mrs.C.Jayalakshmi, Dean Counselling, Mr.C.Loganathan, HoD, Audio visual, Mrs.P.T.Tresa, HoD English, PCT, Dr.D.Saravanan, PCE, Mr.S.Dinakaran, COE, PCT Mrs. K.Subashini, Associate professor, Faculty Development Department and Mrs.S.Mahalakshmi, Additional Placement officer were the resource persons for the programme throwing light on Paavai culture, Fundamental of science, Examination system, How to study engineering subjects, Communication skills, Fundamental of Mathematics, Career development, Transition from school to college and Life skills.
Prof.R.Chenniappan, Dean English, Dr. R.KasthuriBai, Dean, Faculty Development Department and Mrs.P.T.Tresa, HoD English elaborated the need for communication skills. They further expatiate the urgency and requirement of the English language in the Engineering field for PEC, PCE and PCT respectively. Dr.K.Selvi, Dean Academics detailed the message of Paavai culture and the essence of its implication. Dr.S.Sukumar, Dean Civil, focused on the relevance of Engineering subjects and their application. He further highlighted the different strategies to study engineering subjects. Dr.A.S.Kandasamy, Dean ECE, explained the thrust on fundamentals of physics, chemistry and mathematics. He detailed the various aspects of engineering through his own personal experience. Dr.B.Murali Babu, CoE, Dr.D.Saravanan, Mr.S.Dinakaran explained the process of examination system. Dr.B.Murali Babu, COE elaborated on Autonomous examination system and their intricacies to the Autonomous students. Dr.D.Saravanan and Mr.S.Dinakaran focused on Anna University system of evaluation to PCE and PCT students respectively. Mrs.C.Jayalakshmi, Dean Counselling dealt about the period of transition from school to college. The duties, responsibilities and essence of this adolescent age, where there is lot of potential need to be exposed to be used for constructive and purposeful activity. Mr.C.Loganathan, HoD, Audio visual Dept highlighted on the gravity of life skills and their relevance in day to day activities. He spoke on the interpersonal, decision making, team work skills. He narrated different incidents on first aid and its process. Mrs. K.Subashini, Associate professor, Faculty Development Department emphasized the significance of mathematics in engineering. She further highlighted the different application of mathematics in various fields of
engineering. Mrs.S.Mahalakshmi, Additional Placement officer gave a big drift in the placement and their importance. She discussed about the essence of life, vision and to be placed in a good company could be achieved, if an individual is focused in marks, attitude and communication.
Each resource person explained, elaborated and had an interactive session with the students. Around ten topics have been handled in these three days. The review was done to facilitate the learning process and to evaluate the students understanding of these topics. With this the induction programme came to an end.
