On behalf of Namakkal District Assembly Constituency, Election Commission of India, a special camp on Name Registration of young Voters was held on the title “Special Abbreviation Amendment” in Paavai Educational Institutions. The function commenced with prayer song and Tamil Thai Vazhthu. CA. N. V. Natarajan, Chairman of Paavai Educational Institutions presided over the function and delivered his keynote speech. He also presented a memento to the special guest Namakkal District Revenue Commissioner Mr.M.K.Saravanan. Dr. K.K Ramasamy, Director of Administrations, Paavai Educational Institutions delivered the welcome address.
The special guest Mr.M.K.Saravanan in his special address expressed his gratification on seeing wholesome of young voters in Paavai Educational Institutions. He stated that when voting is well-thought-out as a duty, only then will democracy become stronger. He insisted all those who have attained the age of 18 to add their name to the electoral roll. He said that voter registration camp is held four times a year only to fulfil the abovesaid purpose. He further said that Election Commission of India has launched a mobile app called ‘Voters Help Line’, through which, new voters can register their names and join the voter list online anytime. He advised the young voters to realize the importance of voting and create awareness in society. He wished them all the best.
An awareness video on regular voting was presented to the students. Then from the new electors, voter application form was obtained. Vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Sreenithi of II B.B.A. The Awareness programme came to an end with National Anthem’. Paavai Arts and Science College Principal Dr. J. Thavamani, Program Coordinator Mr. M. Mohan, Heads of Departments, Professors and the students participated in the function.
