A workshop titled “Quality versus quantity of research publications” was organized by Paavai Institutions on 1.12.2016. Dr. V. Murugesan, Registrar and Director of B.S. Abdur Rahman University and Former Director, Centre for research, Anna University, Chennai was the chief guest of the function.
The inaugural function was presided over by Dr.K.K.Ramasamy, Director-Administration of Paavai Institutions. In his presidential address he highlighted the importance of publications. He appreciated the heads and faculty members of all the departments for producing more number of university rank holders. He motivated all the faculty members to utilize the resources on our campus for their research. He insisted every department to submit at least one proposal at the earliest.
The welcome address was delivered by Dr. R. Arangasamy HOD/ECE/PEC. Dr.M.Premkumar, Principal/PEC, Dr.M.Devi, Principal/PCE, Dr.J.Sundararajan, Principal/PCT, Dean-Academics and Heads of the departments graced the occasion. The chief guest was introduced by Mrs.B.Gomathy, ASP/EEE/PCE.
The chief guest in his inaugural address emphasized the need of quality publications. He explained the role of research in the Academic and patenting. He elaborated how to patent the new ideas.
In the workshop session he briefed every aspect of publications. He listed the types of journal articles and their role. He gave a thorough knowledge on how to identify journals’ reputation and on what factors the journals are to be weighed.
He reiterated that it would be better to publish less number of research papers in reputed journals rather than publishing more number of papers in un- reputed journals.He highlighted the need of citations of the articles. He also added the importance of peer reviewing process for the research development.
The researchers of Paavai Institutions attended the workshop and got benefited. Dr.A.Suphalakshmi, HOD/CSE/PEC proposed the vote of thanks.
