TREKKING TO YERCAUD

100 odd students and faculty members from Paavai Institutions went on a trekking expedition to Yercaud on 07.11.14. It was a long adventurous journey undertaken on foot by the first year students. Being totally away from the stress of the academic curriculum, syllabus, tests and evaluation, the first time trekkers got ready to experience adrenaline rush that trekking offers, in the early hours of Friday at Yercaud. The outdoor ambience excited the participants and they learnt a lot through this refreshing sport. Firstly, they admired nature. The rose plants, the pepper trees the coffee seeds and the way side fruit-laden trees delighted the students and whenever they had to climb or jump over the uneven rocks or gravels on their way, each helped the other. There was absolute team spirit which paved way for constant communication with fellow trekkers. In fact the whole trekking increased the confidence level of the freshers to bear in mind that life is not a bed of roses always and one has to adopt oneself to any hardship physical or mental that comes on the way. Besides enjoying the beauty and the thrill of nature, Paavai Trekkers performed an eco-friendly job of collecting the polythene bags on the way and heaped them into a pile and later disposed it of. The socially committed act and the individual responsibility of the students won the admiration and appreciation of the faculty and the people around. The pollution free air on the mountains and the local hospitality shown by the hut dwellers on the way encouraged the trekkers to find worthiness in human relationship. The trekkers engaged themselves in recreational activities wherever possible. The best part of the trekking was the students’ concern for a forsaken puppy that they picked up on the way to get it united with its breed once they reached their destination. It only ascertained the fact The trekkers returned home rejuvenated with unforgettable memories which made them look forward to another man-making and character building outdoor sports events in the days to come.
