The Faculty Development department organized a five day Induction Programme for the first year students of Pavai Arts and Science College for Women. The Induction Programme was held from 01.07.2024 to 05.07.2024 at Keerthi Hall, Pavai Arts and Science College for Women.
The inauguration of the programme held at Keerthi Hall commenced invoking God’s bountiful blessings with a prayer song followed by lighting of the kuthuvilakku. Ms.Asmitha II- B.Sc-CS, PASCW welcomed the gathering. Shri.CA.N.Natarajan, the Chairman presided over the function and ingrained Paavai values in the minds of students. Sir stressed on two notions – 1. Paavai should be a guiding torch to the youth folk and 2. Paavai should be a student centric institution. The importance of setting goals was reiterated and with a fixed destination in mind, the students can forge ahead making their academic journey a meaningful one. Sir also emphasized on the importance of care and affection which will be given to all the newcomers at Paavai who are still in a transition period from school to college. His sincere advice to the students was to use the cellphones for productive and educational purposes only. Sir inaugurated the Induction Programme. Smt. Mangai Natarajan, Correspondent offered felicitations and welcomed all the first year students into the portals of Paavai. She advised students to remain focused and make their journey of education an exhilarating and intellectually rewarding experience. She added that the dignified girls at Paavai should pay keen attention to everything around them and make optimum use of every opportunity which comes to them. Every girl student at Paavai is a unique creation of God and during their three years at Paavai, the prime focus should be on completing their degree to achieve financial independence and to become contributing the citizens of society. The new Senior Principal Dr.N.Ezhili delivered the initial address .She motivated the new students asking them thought provoking questions like where is your mind? She also told the students to abide by the rules and regulations of the institution and emerge victorious. The objectives and methodology of the Induction Programme were read out by Ms.Swetha, II-MA-English, PASCW. After the inauguration, the formal sessions commenced.
Shri.CA.N.V.Natarajan Chairman conducted the session on the topic entitled “Goal Setting”. The main objective of this programme is to acquaint the students about the need of the goal and to make them understand the significance of goal setting through which they can succeed in their life within the stipulated time. Sir quoted Abdul Kalam Sir’s inspiring words and made all students to repeat those words. Sir stressed on the importance of SMART goals and explained that preparation is necessary to accomplish goals. He correlated his life incidents of setting a goal at the age of 17 and how he made his dream to come true through consistent and persistent efforts. He listed out the six components to sustain his victory namely Genuine Goal, Lawful and ethical path, continuous efforts, hard work and smart work, high self -discipline and faith in God. Finally he concluded by stating that,” set your goal, shape your future and be a leader”.
Dr.K.Selvi, Dean Academics, PEC delivered her speech on ‘Paavai Culture’. She explained the Paavai Mantra, Principles, Belief and Code. She detailed about classroom behavior and the principles which should be followed in Paavai. She strongly imposed the culture to be followed strictly on and off the college campus. Dr.J.Murshitha Banu, Head, FDD, PEC elaborated the essence of ‘Be Fluent’. She acquainted the students with the skills of English language such as Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. She gave tips to improve one’s Communication skills. In this Session, the students understood the importance of communication skills which will help young students to thrive in the job market..
Dr.M.Prem Kumar, Principal, PEC spoke on the title “Involve to Evolve”. He expounded the topic by focusing on participation, involvement in academic and non-academic activities of the college. He narrated his own life incidents to make students to understand that involvement is important to elevate them to a higher level. Dr.C.Jayalakshmi, Dean Counseling, Paavai Institutions delivered her speech on ‘Transition from School to College’. She said that change is a stressful experience for any one. But for those who have prepared themselves mentally, nothing is difficult. Shifting from School to College is adopting the change in the mode of education and move on further in the process of Learning.
Dr.Hepsi Rachael Chellarani, Principal, PCNR, explained the eating habits, nutritious food, to make the students to understand the importance of balanced food. She also insisted that different psychological problems such as stress, depression, tension can be handled easily, if body, mind and soul unite and work together. Dr.D.Banumathy, CSE, HoD, PEC delivered on the title “Be Liberated Be Happy”. In this session, she made everybody to relax and created stress free environment. She has shown various videos on stress management. She made the students lively and participants. Dr.K.Sundaramurthy, Head, IQAC, PEC addressed the students on ‘Time Management’. In their session, they clearly explained about the importance of time and the necessity to manage time for the students to achieve their goal within a stipulated time.
Dr.E.Kamalasekar, ASP, PPSC, addressed the students on ‘Life Skills’. He created awareness among the students regarding first aid. He encouraged them to help the needy on time without any hesitation and fear. He advocated the students to rescue people from various accidents and motivated them to donate blood, eye and organs. He also taught them how to prepare first aid kit. He showed many inspiring videos regarding parents and how the children should respect them. Mrs.S.Sasikala, HoD, Mathematics, PASCW delivered her speech on ‘Examination System’. She explained how to write internal and external examinations. She gave more details about the answer booklet and its structure which is given by Periyar University and gave tips for students for writing their University Semester examination.
Dr.R.Mohanapriya ASP, ECE, PEC elaborated on the significance of ‘Online Learning Tools’. She listed out the different online learning tools for enhanced learning. She stressed on Swayam App online learning courses and asks the students to register in the app. Mrs.Pradeepa, AP, Mathematics, PEC elaborated the topic, ‘Beauty of Mathematics’. In her session, she beautifully explained how mathematics plays an important role in day to day life. She also taught mathematics in simple way and elucidated its usage in everyday life. She kept the students engaged by showing interesting videos related to mathematics.
Mr.Thamaraiselvan Head, Placement and training, PEC, delivered his speech on ‘Career Development’. He described how to choose a career with clear knowledge. He described clearly about grooming skills, problem solving skills and communication skills. He insisted the students to speak in English without any hesitation to face interview and group discussion. He also created an awareness regarding the recruitment and the expectation of the companies. Mr.Elavarasan, yoga trainer demonstrated the various Asanas and yoga exercise. All the students were made to practice yoga and meditations. The basic exercise, pranayama and surya namaskar were taught and given real experience of doing that yoga. Some of the students recorded their feedback during the feedback session. Totally 270 students benefitted from this programme.
