Paavai EngineeringCollege received the Certificate of Appreciation for conducting the BEC Course

The English department of Paavai Engineering College is conducting the Business English Certification (BEC) course offered by Cambridge University, London, continuously for the past 10 years. So far, nearly 2000 candidates, both students as well as teachers, have undergone and cleared the first and second levels (Preliminary & Vantage) of the BEC course. Paavai Engineering College has already been shortlisted for the prestigious South Asia Best 25 preparation centers Award for Higher Education 2016-2017 by Cambridge English Language Assessment. In Paavai Engineering College, our students have been motivated to enroll themselves in the course and have been given intensified training by the experienced faculty. Apart from our training, taking every enrollee into account for the successful completion of the course, the assessments are conducted and individual feedback is given then and there. Our English Communication Laboratory is so well equipped with high-tech facilities catering to the needs of honing the candidates’ listening skill. Regarding the speaking skill, one to one approach is practiced. On top of this, every trainee is getting familiarized with the on-line examination system. The candidates who have successfully completed Preliminary, the first level, are motivated to go in for Vantage, the second level. As for our task accomplishments, we have trained 21 batches of students for Preliminary and 5 for Vantage till now. It is to be highlighted that every faculty in our institutions appear for Preliminary within their first year of service. And now, as a recognition of the commitment and dedication of the English Department to enhance the students’ English Language Skills, the Cambridge University Press has awarded a Certificate of Appreciation. Shanthi, Head of the department and the other members of the department for their contribution towards BEC training.
