A three day orientation programme had been organised for the first year Pharmacy, Nursing on 16.10.19 & 17.10.19, for M.B.A.M.C.A students 22.09.19 &13.09.19 at Thirumanthiram Hall, PCPR and Cute hall, PEC respectively. The chairman session was held at Tata Hall on 22.10.19. The inauguration of the programme took place in the respective halls. The distinguished Chairman of Paavai institutions, Shri.CA. N.V. Natarajan, inaugurated the programme and spoke about the importance of para-medical courses with special reference to Pharmacy and nursing programmes and responsibilities of pharmacist and nursing . Mrs. Mangai Natarajan the correspondent of Paavai institutions felicitated the gathering by highlighting the relevance of dedication and involvement in para-medical services. In order to acquaint the students with the institutional practices, culture, Time management, Respect education, career development, life skills, exam pattern and goal setting, a series of learning sessions were organised for the students. To begin with, Dr. Selvi Dean Academics spoke about Paavai culture, Paavai beliefs, Paavai principles and above all Paavai mantra “own our words and deeds”.Dr.Kasthuri Bai, Dean FDD, explained the significance of education by highlighting the verses from nanool, silappathikaram, thirukural, naladiyar with illustration. She elaborated the impact and respect given to the educated people inspite of their caste, creed, colour and community.
Dr.Prem kumar, Principal, PEC, enunciated the accolades of Paavai Institutions. He focussed on the achievements of students, faculty members and institution at large. Dr.Murali Babu, elaborated on the evaluation pattern and assessment system of autonomous institution. He detailed on various aspect of evaluation pattern such as internal and end semester examinations.Mr.Loganathan, Head, Audio-visual dept, illustrated with examples, the life skills and their application in day-to-day life. He spoke about the importance of rendering first aid to victims who are in distress. Mrs. Subhashini, Associate professor, Faculty Development Department, substantiated the significance of smart work, and time management skills through various anecdotes, videos and games.Dr.Shanthi, HoD English expatiated the need of communication skills and the relevance of English language with videos and rhymes.Dr.Hepsi Rachel Chella Rani, Principal, PCNR & Mrs. Britya, PCPR pointed out various employment avenues available for the nurses and pharmacists both within the country and also at the international level. They also listed out higher education courses that are available for nursing and pharmacy students. Dr.Sivakumar ,Principal, PCPR and Mr.Nagaraj, PCNR gave a clear description about examination system and evaluation pattern for pharmacy and nursing students respectively.They focused on the study skills to get good score in the internal tests as well as in the university exams. On 22.10.19, the Chairman presented his session on History of Paavai and goal setting. It was a three hour session wherein he had explained about the meaning of goal setting and the means to achieve one’s goal in life. The chairman stressed that mere vision is not sufficient. One has to have a clear, transparent dedicated continuous and conscious effort in order to execute one’s goal successfully. He said that the components such as honest goal, clear path, perseverance, hardwork, discipline and devotion to work will definitely achieve success.Paavai is a student centric organisation established by a seventeen year old boy who desired to establish Paavai as a guiding torch to the youth folk. He continued that his life is an example to learn that hard work always pays rewards and the History of Paavai stands testimony to that. The Correspondent madam encouraged the students to be more value-centred. She emphasized the importance of being humane in all our endeavours. The valedictory session held at Tata Hall, PCT. In the valedictory session, the students gave their feedback. The chairman delivered his valedictory address. Mrs.Mangai Natarajan, the Correspondent focused on the dress code, culture and the scientific outlook of every action. With the National anthem, the programme came to an end. Totally there were 300 students benefitted from this programme.
