Paavai Institutions organized a Faculty Orientation Program for the faculty of RSK Group of Schools, BHEL, Trichy on 30.05.2017 on the campus of Paavai. Following the Inaugural session, Shri.CA.N.V.Natarajan, Chairman, Paavai Institutions delivered a speech on the title “Teacher, an inspiring leader” .At the outset he listed out ten qualities of a good leader and simultaneously related it to the role of a teacher. The foremost principle of a teacher is to wholeheartedly serve the students to come up in life as great leaders who in turn will take the society and the country to greater heights. He concluded his speech by stating that establishing a clear specified goal, continuous hard work, sincerity and dedication in the execution of the work at hand and above all faith in god will make a teacher an inspiring leader.
Dr.C.Satish, Director of Paavai Group of Schools spoke on the title “Recent Trends in Education”. He stated that education is beyond examinations and therefore every institution should impart life skills to student so that they will lead a stress-free, character- based, work -inclined, god-fearing life and all systems of education should strive towards it. During the course of his talk he cited several incidents that he experienced during his school days which helped him discover the urge and the desire to become a teacher. He concluded that the unseen hands of god will recognise and reward every act of sincerity and commitment.
In the afternoon session, the participants were divided into four teams and each team worked on the role of staff, students, parents, society and the government respectively in making one’s institution as a Premier institution. After the group discussion, Shrimathy. Mangai Natarajan,Coresspondent,Paavai Institutions addressed the audience on the title “character building Education”. She said, character counts in everything. “Knowing one’s students” thoroughly is the first step in offering character-centered education. She pointed out that a teacher’s personality & teaching have a profound impact on children’s academic performance and general development. Hence, teachers should create a positive school climate which will give confidence to the learners to stick to principled life even in the absence of surveillance camera. The correspondent stressed on workplace morality, gender equality, fairness and genuineness among the faculty too.
Dr.R.Kasthuri Bai, Dean, Faculty Development expounded on the pedagogical skills of the faculty. She emphasized that technology- assisted learning with enhance the retention power of learning and with increased penetration of internet facility, teaching can become an act of creating joy and discovery among the learners.
Mrs.C.Jayalakshmi, Dean Councelling gave a presentation on the title “Teachers are second Parents”. She explained in detail that in the changing dynamics of socio-family structures, today’s school-going teenagers are restless and helpless. Hence teachers need to be parent substitutes, mentors, advocates, councellors, therapists and much more.Teachers should always handle the students with care and parental attention.
In the Valedictory session teachers gave their feedback and the valedictory address was given by the Chairman with a concluding remark that teaching is the noblest profession and teachers should make themselves worthy of it.
