Orientation Program For Arts college first year students on 04.07.2109

A seven day orientation programme for I year students in two batches was held from 4th July to 10th July 2019.  Shri.CA.N.V.Natarajan, Chairman, Paavai Institutions presided over the Inaugural function held in Brilliant Hall.  In his inaugural address, he advised  the students to utter good words as women are powerful and can spread goodness only through fine words and they should not  become victims to infatuation and false appreciation. The inaugural function came to an end with the session being handed over to the Chairman, Paavai Institutions.

In his session, the Chairman detailed ‘Goal Setting’ to the students in a simple mode.  He clearly explained how to frame smart goal and achieve it by creating a strong vision of who they want to be.  He enumerated his own life tussles in reaching his goal of establishing Paavai Institutions, which were considered to be the best example of goal setting by the students. He insisted that the students should set goals with time frame and work hard to achieve the goals within the stipulated time and maintain good relationship with others.  He also highlighted that honest ambition, straight path, perseverance, hard work, stern discipline and unconditional devotion are the core principles, which lead to successful life.

Dr. R.Kasthuri Bai, Dean, Faculty Development expounded a speech on ‘Respect Education’. She elucidated in detail the significance of education for women and their role in the society. She encouraged the students to shed off their inhibition and bring out their inner talents by conducting outdoor events.

Mr. C.Loganathan, HoD, Audio and Visual, Paavai Institutions, addressed the students on ‘Life Skills’.  He created awareness among the students regarding first aid.  He encouraged them to help the needy on time without any hesitation and fear.  He advocated for the students the importance of rescuing people from various accidents and motivated them to donate blood, eye and organs.  He also taught them how to prepare first aid kit.

Mrs. Mahalakshmi Subramaniyam, Additional Placement Officer, Paavai Engineering College, delivered her speech on ‘Career Development’.  She described how to choose a career with clear knowledge.  She described clearly about grooming skills, problem solving skills and communication skills. She insisted the students to speak in English without any hesitation to face interview and group discussion. She also created an awareness regarding the recruitment and the expectation of the companies.

Dr. K.Selvi, Dean Academics, delivered her speech on ‘Pavai Culture’.  She detailed about classroom behaviour and principles which should be followed in Pavai.  She strongly imposed the culture to be followed strictly on and off the college campus.

Mrs. K.Subashini, Associate Professor, Faculty Development Department, delivered her speech on ‘Beauty of Mathematics’.  In her session, she beautifully explained how mathematics plays an important role in day to day life.  She also taught mathematics in a simple way and elucidated its usage in everyday life.

Mrs. K.Vimala, HoD, Department of Computer Science, Pavai Arts and Science College for Women, explained in detail the ‘Examination System’.  She explained how to write internal and external examinations.  She gave more details about the answer booklet and its structure which is given by Periyar University and gave tips for students for writing their University semester examination.  She emphasised the students to concentrate on their time while writing examination. 

Mrs.Kavitha and Mrs.Bharathi, Department of Physics, PEC, spoke on the title, ‘Basics of Sciences’. They explained the importance of science in everyday life. Applications of science in various fields were elucidated and videos regarding science achievements were shown to the students. It was an inspiring session to the students.

Many events were conducted. The students sang, danced and did formation on the ground. Treasure hunt event and pattimandram were also conducted. All the students were actively participated and rendered their best by unleashing their hidden talents. Students made badges depicting their name and their cherished goal in life. The best badges were given prizes.

In the Valedictory function, the students came out with their feedback.  They shared their goals and views which were kindled by the resource persons.  Smt. Mangai Natarajan, Correspondent, Paavai Institutions, in her Felicitation Address, stressed the importance of self-confidence, which is the real beauty of women.  She requested the students to respect their parents and teachers, and to think emotionally and to act intellectually not expecting lenience but care from others.   She also insisted them to learn the importance of asking why what, where,  when and how while doing any action .  She expressed her desire that the students should shape their individuality and emerge as successful women who can be set as examples to the future generation.  She introduced the Happy Slogans of Paavai “Healthy Paavai, Wealthy Paavai, Powerful Paavai”.  She explained the importance of the programme saying that it would help the girl students to remove ignorance and help them increase their self-confidence thereby providing them with a better understanding of themselves. 

The session came to an end with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Ms. R.Anusha of   I B.Com (CA).

Dr.R.Rajeswari,the principal, graced the event. The first year faculty lent their support and Mrs.Archana, the physical education faculty enabled the FD department to conduct outdoor events to the students. Around 430 Students were benefitted by the programme.
