A one day Faculty Development Programme was organised on the title, “Microwave and Optical communication Lab” for the ECE faculty on 31.05.2017 at Paavai College of Engineering. Dr.K.Selvi Dean-Academics inaugurated the FDP and stated that the faculty members should consider the domain related FDP as a forum to discuss the various topics in the subject.
In the forenoon session Mrs.j.Jesintha Marry, Assistant Professor, ECE, PCE discussed various ideas related to the topic “Microwave Communication lab”. In her session she gave a brief introduction about the different type of microwave sources using rectangular wave guide operated at the frequency of 9GHz -10GHz and she gave a detailed review on the different components and their function.
In the afternoon session the resource person elaborated the fiber optic communication lab exercises using different type and different length of optical fiber for communicating the analog and digital signals. She focused on how to conduct an experiment. The faculty members were able to calculate and verify the outputs of experiments learnt in the theory sessions.
The FDP enabled the faculty to update their experimental skills and problem solving ability. It is sure that the faculty members have got a clear idea regarding the ways and means of explaining the subject with an in-depth knowledge to the students. Earlier Dr.S.Sukumar, Dean Civil, gave laboratory tips and details regarding lab manual writing. All the ECE faculty of Paavai institutions were benefited.
