A discussion forum was organized by Dr.K.Selvi, Dean Academics, on the title “Memory and its Operations in Computer” on 07-5-18 for the benefit of the faculty members of CSE, IT, ECE, and MCA of Paavai Engineering Colleges. Prof.V.Sakthivel, Asso.Prof./ECE/PEC was the chief resource person for the programme.
The resource person commenced the session with an elaborate introduction about memory, types of memory, hardware configuration of memory and memory management. Thereafter the participants raised questions and got their doubts clarified in the acquisition of the fundamentals of memory.
The thought-provoking discussion centered on the importance of RAM, ROM, SRAM DRAM and their applications in real life applications. The focus was more on the difference between virtual memory and physical memory and also on the forthcoming advancements of memory. The participants came to know about the components such as capacitors, flip flop transistors etc., and also about the functionality of memory.
The session was summarized and concluded by Dr.K.Selvi and the programme came to an end with a feedback by the faculty members expressing their satisfaction in the pursuit of knowledge and skills
