Global Azure Boot Camp 2017 on 22.04.2017 @ Paavai MIC

Global Azure Boot Camp 2017 – A one-day deep dive workshop was organized to help the student beneficiaries to develop apps on Microsoft Azure. The class enabled the trainers to use real world experience with Microsoft Azure. Around 34 Students and 2 faculty members attended and benefitted from the Global Azure Boot Camp.

In Session 1 – “Introduction to GAB and Microsoft Azure” by Dr.S.Vijayaragavan, Center Head, Paavai MIC and in Session 2, “Getting started with Xamarin and Azure Mobile Services” by Ms.Alagunila Meganathan, Asst. Prof, MCA, Paavai Engineering College, were delivered to the participants.

WHAT IS THE GLOBAL AZURE BOOTCAMP?

Global Azure Bootcamp (#globalazure) is turning five years old and is a community owned and community driven day of Azure all around the world. On the same day, in 2017 that day is April 22, hundreds of user groups and tech communities run a one day, free to attend, meetup (or bootcamp) where all participants across the world, learn together about Azure. Each User Group will arrange the agenda for the day, and with the content that makes sense, for them. Globally they arrange for sponsors with nice giveaways.

Event Highlights:

Global Science Lab

One of the missions of Global Azure Bootcamp is to provide a lab that gives researchers access to large scale computing resources to help process vast quantities of data. In previous years the organisers have tried to bring you a science lab that is both interesting and represents great research. This year was no exception! Galaxies are the largest single structures in the universe, which harbour almost all the known types of astronomical objects. Among these, the stars represent the building blocks since they process the gas, create new planetary systems, form black holes, and their light makes the galaxies visible to ourselves. Many galaxies form stars throughout their lifetimes, and understanding how they do so is essential to understand the processes driving galaxy formation and evolution, which effectively affect the whole universe.

Our Paavai students participated and achieved 3rd Position around the world in the Science Lab.

Racing Game Lab

The GAB Racing Game Lab allows Global Azure Bootcamp attendees around the world to compete with each other to set the fastest lap times in a 3D driving game. The back-end game services are hosted in Azure and will process the lap time, telemetry data and achievements unlocked in the game.

* Players at different locations can compete in the overall championship and will score points for the times they set on the three tracks.

* Players at your location can cooperate to unlock achievements for your country.

* Countries can compete for the total number of achievement points that attendees at their locations unlock.

* Attendees and locations can compete to implement the coolest features in the challenge stages in the lab.

Race Control & Fair Play

The racing game provided a great opportunity for developers from around the world to learn about Azure technologies and have fun whilst doing so. Alan Smith ran the Race Control throughout the event, and was monitoring lap times and telemetry data.

Our Paavai students participated in the race and achieved following Achievement’s around the world in the Racing Game Lab.

1. RAGHU(D.S.Raghunathan III MCA PEC) was ranked 7th in the Racing 29386 points(taken from the link http://gabracinglab.azurewebsites.net/Home/Index/).

2. Naveen (A.Naveen II – IT PEC) of Paavai was ranked 8th with 29280 points.

3. In the Achievement (Nation) Score, India collected 5 Golds, 7Silvers and 8 Bronzes (Mainly contributed by Paavai MIC and Paavai Students
