The faculty development department (FDD) conducted a one day faculty development programme for the faculty of mechanical engineering on 17th May 2017 at PCT. The Programme dealt with make practical exposure and its application on Fluid Mechanics and Machinery. Dr.K.Selvi, Dean-Academics, welcomed the gathering and talked about the importance of subject enhancement. The programme was organized in four sessions.
The resource person Mr.P.Shanmugaraja, Assistant professor/Mechanical dealt with the topic “Fluid Mechanics” during the first session. In this session he explained the basic concepts of Fluid Mechanics, the various types of fluid flow problems encountered in practice and solved them in a systematic manner. During the second session, all the faculty did fluid mechanics experiments at Fluid Mechanics & Fluid Machinery Laboratory in an effective manner. The hands-on training was very useful for the faculty to know about the application of fluid mechanics.
The next session was handled by Mr.M.Matheshwaran, Assistant professor/Mechanical on the topic, “Fluid Machinery”. In this session he explained the basic fluid mechanical principle governing the energy transfer in a fluid machine and also gave a brief description of different kinds of hydraulic machines along with their performances. The hands-on training on fluid mechanics experiments using Fluid Mechanics & Fluid Machinery Laboratory took place in the last session.
This one day FDP was an exclusive forum to discuss and extend the practical knowledge of faculty members. It was sure that the faculty members have got a clear idea regarding the ways and means of handling the experiments with an in-depth knowledge to the students.
