For the 2nd year in succession, Paavai Engineering College, Namakkal, got the Champion of Champions Trophy with a tally of 510 points in the Anna University Sports Board competitions held for the year 2015-16. As many as 500 students took part in the competitions from over 184 institutions in 19 zones.
Paavai, which won the zone VIII championships with an aggregate of 400 points, went on to take the overall prize with a tally of 510 points followed by St. Joseph College of Engineering, Chennai, with 430 points. Paavai contributed 65 competitors (30 men and 35 women) to the Inter-University Meets last season.
The Anna University Sports Board organized its annual sports award function for the year 2015-2016 at Vivekananda Auditorium, Anna University, on 7th September 2016.
Presiding over the awards function, Thiru.K.P. Anbalagan, Honorable Minister for Higher Education, Tamilnadu, congratulated the medal winners and presented the Champion of Champions Trophy to Shri.N.V. Natarajan, Chairman, Paavai Educational Institutions. He underlined the growing enthusiasm among the students to sports and the importance accorded to sports by Tamil Nadu government.
Thiru.K. Pandiarajan, Honorable Minister for School Education, Sports and Youth Welfare, made a fervent plea to students to devote at least an hour a day for sports. He presented other awards for winners at the inter-university competitions.

Mangai Natarajan, Correspondent, Thiru.Senthil, Director Admissions, Dr. K.K.Ramasamy, Director Administration, Principal, Heads of the Departments and the faculty members wholeheartedly appreciated the real hard work put in and congratulated the Physical Directors and the students who have brought laurels to the college by their wonderful performance in sports and games.
