Monologue

A monologue is a solo scene with a long speech by one character. Basically, you’re going to walk right out of a play/poem and impress the judges through your acting.

  • The monologue can be adapted from a play/poem and performed by the participant.
  • The participant can represent a historical or fictional character.
  • The script must be memorized by the participant.
  • The participant may wear a costume and use props as necessary.
  • The monologue must stay within the performance time limit of six minutes.
  • 3 Registrations per Master Team
  • 3+1 mins

Street Play – கூத்துப்பட்டறை

There isn’t much difference between a skit and a street play. Street play is a serious form of drama that focuses on the various social issues regrading the society. Street Play has lot of dramatization, use of props and out-of-the-box methods to convey their message. BE LOUD!

It should be a group act focusing on the Theme.
Theme: Any Social Issues
  • Street Play (Boys) 1 Team per Master Team.
  • Street Play (Girls) 1 Team per Master Team.
  • Maximum 30 Participants per Team.
  • No Mics, No Speakers or any other form of Play back.
  • Time Limit: Max 15 mins.
  • Any form of Vulgarity is not Allowed.
  • Properties are allowed.
  • Judges decision will be final. Any violation will result in elimination.
  • Only the first two places will be awarded.

Marks will be assessed based on Theme, Theme execution, Properties used/ costume, Engaging the public, Performance.

Mime – முகமொழி

Whenever the word mime comes up, people picturize a white—washed face with a sad expression pushing imaginary walls around.Mime is the art of expressing using bodily movements and is a pure form of acting, unadulterated by words and where actions speak the loudest.

It should be a group act focusing on a particular theme.

  • 2 Teams per Master Team (1 Boys Team + 1 Girls Team).

  • Max 15 Participants per Team.
  • Time for each Team is limited to 10 + 3 mins for stage setting and clearing the stage. Violating Time limit will result in elimination.
  • The teams need to clean up any mess or trash, etc. that you may use or make during your skit and all teams need to have representation backstage to clean the stage after the team’s program.
  • Any form of obscenity will result in debarring the team from Participation.
  • Judges decision will be final. Any violation will result in elimination.
  • Only the first two places will be awarded.

Marks will be assessed based on Theme, Theme execution, Performance.

Still – Sirppam

Have you been to an amusement park or the streets of metros and wondered certain people there played being still with hundreds around trying to make them lose their stance and still posture without an emotion. You can try it too at Paavai this time.

Recreate a small scene or a large scene or statue or historical event.
