Paavai Institutions proudly presented “ASTRA’18” on 8.2.18 and 9.2.18 – a cultural extravaganza which is an intra-collegiate fest aimed to provide the platform for the youngsters to exhibit their talents. The prelude platform started with inaugural function along with the grand teaser. Dr. Rajalaxmi, the guest of honour, Correspondent of Paavai Institutions along with other dignitaries lighted the kuthuvilaku. Ms. Avanthi Natarajan, Student Affairs welcomed the gathering. The Chariman, Mr.C.V.Natarajan unveiled the screen of ASTRA’18 and gave his keynote address.

Astra’18 has 44 events under the categories of Dance , Music, Dramatics, Art Attack, Design, Fashion, Media, Quiz, Lets’s Talk, Tamil, Misc Sports/Outdoor games and the events have been started to sparkle in all the venues of Paavai institutions. The competition was between two master teams of Paavai Institutions.

(i) Paavai Rock Stars (Students of “Paavai Engineering College”) and

(ii) Paavai Super Kings ( Students of “Paavai College of Engineering” and “Pavai College of Technology”)

Fashion Runway, Pattimandram, Quiz and spotlight, Skid, Solo dance( classical and Freestyle), Electric heels, Voice of Astra, Battle of bands, Street Art, Brick modeling, Junk installation and cricket were the events held during the first day of ASTRA’18. Marks were awarded for both the teams based on their performance on each event. Paavai Super Kings earned more points than Paavai Rock Stars on the first day and they were leading.

JAM, Ship wreak, Who Am I?, Lamp Design, Hair dressing, Newspaper dressing, Fruit and Vegetable Carving, Short Film making, Sketching, Street Play, Kho-Kho, Reflection Dance, Fireless Cooking, Photography, Mehandhi, Kavithai Ulagam, Kabbadi were the events held on the other day. Thus, the students unleashed their talents by involving them in diverse opportunities. Finally, Paavai Rock Stars won the Rolling Trophy with a difference of 120 points.

Mr. Mime Gopinath, a renowned mime actor and Ms. Malavika Sundar, Carnatic singer and playback vocalist were the guests for the Valedictory program. They gave a motivational speech where the students got inspired by the story narrated by Mr. Mime Gopi. Mr.Mime Gopinath advised the students to be human and to make good things to make others happy. He told the students to work hard to achieve goals and spend time for their relations to lead a happy life. Ms.Malavika Sundar, during her speech told the students to follow their passion and achieve their ambition in life. She also sung a few songs for the students. The program ended with Vote of Thanks by Mr. Vishnuvardhan of IV year EEE.
