An in-house FDP on the title “Dynamics of Machines” was conducted by the FDD on 11.05.2017 and 12.05.2017 for the faculty members of mechanical engineering department of Paavai Engineering Colleges. Mr. J. Selvakumar, Associate Professor, Mechanical ,PCE was the resource person for the fore noon session on 11.05.2017 . He spoke about the dynamics of machines, force analysis, D’Alembert’s principle, fly wheel and its importance in I.C engines. Mr.P.Raja sekar, Assistant Professor, Mechanical, PCT handled the second session wherein he spoke about the controlling mechanisms, especially the Governors and its classification and Gyroscope and its effects on ships and aero planes. He illustrated through diagrams and videos the various functions of governors. On 12.05.2017, Mr.A.Aravind, Assistant Professor, Mechanical, PCE handled the forenoon session. He spoke about the balancing of rotating masses and balancing of reciprocating masses in various types of engines. In the last session Mr.M.S.Vijayanandh, Assistant Professor, Mechanical, PEC dealt with vibration and its classifications.
The most significant aspect of the FDP was the four tutorial sessions conducted for the staff. The resource persons gave forty problems and enabled all the staff to work the same in groups. In addition to the training session, assignments were also given to the faculty to ensure in depth knowledge in their respective field. Dr.S.Sukumar, Dean Civil Engineering, Dr.R.Kasthuribai, Dean Faculty Development and Dr.K.Selvi, Dean Academics graced the programme.
