The Faculty Development Department (FDD) conducted a two day in-house FDP for the faculty of Mechatronics on 09th and 10th of May 2017 at PEC. The programme dealt with “CNC Technology”, its relevance and application.
After the formal inauguration by Dr.K.Selvi Dean Academics, Mr.V.K.Gobinath, the first resource person from the Department of Mechatronics, PEC spoke about CNC machines, their features, principles and advantages. Following the introductory lecture, Mr.V.Anand, the second resource person, discussed CNC programming for co-ordinate system. Mr.S.Surya kumar concluded the session by referring to G codes and M codes, tool compensation, part programming and CNC codes from CAM packages.
On the second day (10.05.2017) the faculty did CNC programming at CNC lab, PCT. They executed ten programs pertaining to CNC milling operation, turning, facing, linear interpolation, circular interpolation, peck drilling, contour milling, drilling, gear cutting, key way cutting. The hands-on training was very useful for the faculty to know about the application of CNC Technology.
