Paavai Engineering College hosted a two-day National Level Technical Symposium, TECHFINIX’24, on 08.11.2024 and 09.11.2024 at Anandha Arangam. The inaugural session commenced with an invocation followed by Tamil Thai Vazhthu. Smt. Mangai Natarajan, Correspondent of Paavai Institutions, lit the kuthuvilaku along with other dignitaries.
In his presidential address, Shri CA N.V. Natarajan, Chairman of Paavai Institutions, focused on five important values: education, practice, effort, hard work, and success. He emphasized the importance of setting big goals in life and shared his experience of the late President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam’s visit to Paavai, quoting his words, “Think Big and Aim High.” He added that Paavai is a student-centric institution focused on the progress and growth of its students. He also encouraged students to watch TED Talks, build their inner confidence, and expand their knowledge.
Dr. Kanagaraj Sekar, Professor of Computational and Data Sciences at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, was the Chief Guest. In his inaugural address, he discussed the integration of biosciences with the latest technologies and explained the process of securing internships at IISc. During his speech, he highlighted the advantages and disadvantages of AI technology. Earlier, Mr. A. Ajmal Thahseen, a final-year IT student, delivered the welcome address, and Ms. M. Reema, also a final-year IT student, gave the prelude to the symposium.
Around 55 technical and non-technical events—including Paper Presentation, Technical Quiz, Project Expo, Treasure Hunt, Drone Racing, Parachute Diving, Glider Modelling, Poster Design, Hitching, Agro Quiz, Interloop Music, Bioscope, Fun with Language, Biotech Trivia, BioPictionary, BioConnections, Tech Talk, Bug Fixer, Video Emend, Capture the Flag, Code Hunters, Picture Presentation, Code Cracking, Scale by Sight, Pirate’s Eye, Merry Blast, Mr. Charlie, ChemQuiz, Circuitrix, Mindware Maze, Pick and Place, Circuit Debugging, I-Connects, Multimedia Presentation, Oral/Poster Presentation, Think Tank Trivia, Mystery Mania, W3 War, Wonder Query, Technology Diggers, Chinese Whisper, Connection, Line Follower, Water Rocketry, Machining, Ad-Zap, Mastermind, Grandmaster, Coding Battle, Web Page Designing, and Technical Startup Ideas—were organized by various departments. Around 600 papers were received from colleges including SRM, VIT, Bannari Amman, KL University, Anna University, Saveetha, New Horizon, and Sona College of Technology, as well as from states like Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. Out of these, 240 papers were shortlisted for presentation. Students exhibited their projects and innovations at various spots around the campus.
The valedictory session was held on 09.11.2024 at Anandha Arangam from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Feedback was received from the participants, and the valedictory address was given by Smt. Mangai Natarajan, Correspondent of Paavai Institutions. She stressed the importance of faith and hope in life, advising students to understand the fundamental principles of life. She encouraged students to prioritize their goals, distinguish between do’s and don’ts, face rejections, and maintain mental balance. She also highlighted the importance of physical and mental well-being. Cash prizes totaling Rs. 3,50,000 were awarded to winners of various events, and participation certificates were distributed. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. D. Devadarshini, a final-year CSE student, followed by the National Anthem.
The event was attended by the Director of Admissions, Director of Administration, Principals, Deans, Controller of Examinations, Conveners of TECHFINIX’24, Heads of various departments, faculty members, students of Paavai Engineering College, juries, and participants from various colleges.
The enthusiastic participation of students from different colleges affirmed the relevance and significance of this symposium. The festival showcased the synergy of youthful creativity and talent, with a wide range of events designed to test talent, mental acuity, logical thinking, and creativity. Overall, it was a fun-filled event combining intellectual challenge with creative expression.
