In commemoration of the birthday of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam sir, the Department of Civil Engineering organized a series of events to celebrate his remarkable legacy and inspire students. The festivities began with a Drawing Competition on October 14th, 2024, followed by a Tribute Ceremony and Debate on October 16th.
The Tribute Ceremony on October 16th addressed by Shri C.A. N.V. Natarajan, Chairman of Paavai Educational Institutions, who highlighted the significance of Dr.Kalam’s values and vision. Smt. Mangai Natarajan, Correspondent of Paavai Educational Institutions, offered her felicitations to the gathering, further motivating the students and faculties.
A meaningful moment during the ceremony was the Oath Taking session, where all the Principals, Deans, HoD’s, staff members, and Civil Engineering students came together to take a solemn oath in honor of Dr. Kalam’s values and vision. This collective commitment to follow his ideals and contribute to the nation’s progress added a profound sense of unity to the event.
The theme for the Drawing Competition was “Missile Man Kalam,” encouraging students to creatively express their thoughts and ideas. A total of 90 students from the various department participated, and their drawings were evaluated based on creativity, relevance to the theme, and artistic skills.
The another event debate was conducted in afternoon in the title “ மக்கள் நாயகன் என திரு. கலாம் போற்றப்பட காரணம் – விஞ்ஞானி என்பதாலா? ஜனாதிபதி என்பதாலா? மனிதநேயர் என்பதாலா? ” Three teams participated in the debate, each comprising three members. The judging panel, headed by Dr. A. Immanuvel, Vice Principal, Paavai College of Engineering and Prof.K.Sharmiladevi, HoD/Civil, along with Civil faculty members & A.Samundeswari, ASP/ECE and around 600 students were attended the debate event.
The winners, along with other participants, were awarded certificates during the Tribute Ceremony held on October 16th.
The two-days celebration of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s birthday was a resounding success. It provided students with an opportunity to express their creativity, engage in intellectual debates, and reflect on Dr. Kalam’s vision for India. The department received overwhelming participation and feedback from students, making it a memorable and inspiring event.
