Ulavu Thiruvizha : 2020 - Inauguration

On the account of Pongal festival, in Paavai engineering college, a two day grandeur “UZHAVU THIRUVIZHA” was organized by Agriculture Engineering Department. The event was presided over by our chief guest, Mr.P. MURUGESA BOOPATHI, the former vice-chancellor, TNAU Coimbatore. The presence of our special invitee Mr.S.RAMASUBRAMONIAM, Scientist ISRO enriched the event. The welcome address was delivered by Ms.M.Tharani,3rd year of agriculture engineering department. Our beloved correspondent mam Smt.MANGAI NATARAJAN lighted the “Kuthu Vilakku” and had delivered the inaugural address. Mr.P.MURUGESA BOOPATHI, delivered his speech covering various aspects of farming & he was very much elated to have a glance of our innovation “AMIRTHA VARSHINI”. He said, “It is absolutely astonishing to witness ‘AMIRTHA VARSHINI’ and the way it is created by inculcating the significant values of nature and its resources. Farming & farmers are the soul of our life and it is great to see that your college is still rooted to the traditions & conduct such cultural events. If we go down the memory lane, during post-independence period, our country had survived only by the imports of food grains and milk. Also for 36 crore people we imported 53 Million Tons of grains. Now we flourished great by producing 250 MT of grains and other products for 120 Crore people. It also includes the surplus of 40 MT. It is fascinating that we not just produce products like paddy, milk and vegetables but also stand at good position in export. Hence, it is the duty of you, the emerging agriculture-engineering graduates to know the importance of agriculture and adopt various technologies to enhance it further. In addition, it is your duty to spread about the need of agriculture to the masses. My hearty wishes to all of you”. Preceding this, our beloved correspondent mam Mrs.MANGAI NATARAJAN had honored the chief guests with shawl & token of remembrance. In the further course of the event, the guest of honor Mr.S.RAMASUBRAMONIAM (Scientist), Mr.K.ASHOK KUMAR (Organic Farmer) and Mr.N.MEGANADHAN (Dealer of John Deere) had delivered about the advance technologies in farming. Later our respected chairman Mr.CA.N.V.NATARAJAN had inaugurated the cultural events. It included a variety of traditional games, arts, dance & cultural events. This paved the platform for the young blooming generation to witness our great old culture. All the students in their traditional attire graced the occasion and prepared Pongal in our own conventional way. The event was enriched by the presence of our Director Admin Dr.K.K.Ramasamy, Dean Of Academics Mrs.K.Selvi, Principal Of Paavai Engineering College Dr.M.Premkumar, the HOD of Agriculture Engineering Department Mr.K.Vishnubharath, HOD of various Departments, faculty members and students of other departments. The vote of the thanks was delivered by Ms.S.Sathya, Final year Agriculture Engineering Department.
